Crash Bang Boom

So as you probably have heard I got in a car accident on Thursday. I wanted to document it &post some pictures so.. here it goes:

It was 9:15, I was running late and still needed to get gas, so instead of turning right on Pioneer to go to the highway, I turned left to run to the gas station. No more than 1/4 of a mile down the street I was bopping my head and cautiously driving on the icy roads that had 4 inches of snow from the night before when a car a car's length in front of me just started to turn.. right in front of me! I honked and slammed on the breaks but (blast the Rexburg weather) I just slipped and slided. So I then attempted to swerve because I was thinking 'we can NOT afford a car accident right now and I love this car and this is not going well and.....' then it was like I was at a carnival in the bumper cars only not as fun and way more dangerous. I was being tossed and turned from side to side, smelling bad smells and hearing bad noises. I composed myself quickly and looked to my left to see who the person was that had ruined my day AND car.

My heart leaped out of my chest when I saw an old man. I jumped out of the car and ran to his. Asked him if he was okay and he replied 'yes, I'm fine. I have to go...' I told him he couldn't leave, put his car in park and asked him if he was okay/needed an ambulance, now realizing his forehead had blood running down it. He once again said 'I'm fine! I'm just going up the street, I've got to go' I told him he couldn't leave, wrote down his/my information and then he just zoomed off!

So there I was, obviously sobbing looking at my sweet Imogen battered and torn. I called Scott and told him what had happened and he said he'd be there as soon as he could (he was 30 minutes away in Idaho Falls working). I called my dad and he said to call the cops. I did. Numerous people I knew drove by and I was honestly a little bit embarrassed to be showing the world my red puffy eyes and snotty nose. What can you do though? The cops finally showed up and took my statement. Scott came (thankfully) and took over talking with the men and I just sat there. The car got towed and do you want to know the really sad part? The cops called the man who hit me shortly after and he had been taken to a clinic for his head. Turns out he's 89 years old and he didn't remember a THING! Not the accident, not giving me his information, Nothing! It broke my heart. Really.

The car's totaled, we're still trying to figure out things with the insurance and hopefully get a rental car for next week since.. we don't have a car now.
Here's pictures of our sweet baby Imogen.. dead. Poor thing:

So that was my Thursday. I hope yours was better. Love you!

Awwww shucks! I am sorry, Ash! I am even more sorry for that old man! He probably shouldn't be driving anymore...89? Yeah. Anyway, I'm glad you are ok; glad he is too. Here's to hoping that the insurance will work quickly and get you a car pronto!
