Boston

Boston was AMAZING! We left Utah at 8 pm and flew to Arizona where we sat around for a while then left at midnight. We got into Boston at 7:30 am.

7:30 in boston. so amp'd/tired.

Monday when we got in, I was feeling so qweezy. We then took a bus ride to the car rental place which made me even MORE sick. Then we had an appointment to go see an apartment right when we got in, so we were driving there and I was feeling so bad. I kept telling Scott "I think I'm going to throw up..." but I'd calm myself down and wouldn't. Finally we were almost to the apartment and it hit me. I rolled down the window and vomited all over the street.. twice. Not my finest moment.


We went apartment shopping all morning. Went to the harbor and sat for a while. We were exhausted so we went to our hotel and luckily they let us check in early.  We slept for a few hours. Then when we woke up Scott checked his email/accounts. What did he find? A Big Fat
CONGRATULATIONS!! WE LOVE YOU! COME TO BENTLEY UNIVERSITY!!!
We jumped, sang, laughed, cried and everything inbetween. Then decided we should go celebrate. We went to a little shop in 'downtown' Waltham called La Soleo. It was sooo delicious!! We got a chicken with a sweet/spicy salsa, spicy garlic potatoes (so divine) and beef empanadas. Everything was devoured and we much enjoyed it.

The next morning, we went and got bagels, muffins, &apples at the continental breakfast in our hotel. It was the day of my orientation &I was soo nervous. I got ready, and we were off!

  I took grandpa's bag with me and envisioned him taking it with him when he was in dental school. It felt good and familiar (Scott thought that was weird, but I didn't think it was) Orientation was great. My school is GORGEOUS!!! All the buildings were old and gorgeous with wood ornate ceilings. The meeting was overwhelming with talk of money and classes but exciting. I ordered my scrubs (royal purple. perfect. just my style), my coats, gloves, glasses and instruments. Then there was a luncheon. I asked some girls from my program if I could sit with them and luckily they let me. This is how the conversation went:
girls: so you're going to school in idaho? why are you moving all the way out here?
me: ohh.. my husband's in a grad program at bentley so i'm just kind of following him.
g: ohhh.. you're married?!
m: yeah!
g: how long have you been married?
m: two years
g: How Old Are You?!
m: 22...
g: WOAH!!! and you're MARRIED?!! for TWO YEARS?
Naturally I forgot that it's soooo uncommon outside Idaho/Utah and felt so weird and like a freak. At least they were nice. Probably they chit-chatted about me when I left.. what can you do?

After orientation, we drove home in the hot &humid weather and decided to go for a swim at our hotel. We did synchronize swimming, games, it was wonderful beyond words. I love swimming.

 After the wonderful swim, we ventured over to Bentley University to check it out. It was GORGEOUS! We loved it! We walked around the school and when we were in the library, we walked up to the top floor and could see the Boston Temple from the window! It was magical.

 On our way home, we stopped at this pizza place &got a BBQ chicken pizza. It was divine. We layed in bed, ate, and watched White Collar. Glorious.

The next day, we went and saw the Boston temple. It's gorgeous. I can't wait for it to be our new temple.

Then we went to the park in downtown Boston. It was gorgeous. So much history and so many beautiful houses and things to see!

We then ventured over to Chinatown. I was disappointed. I was imagining Chinatown in NY but there weren't shops or anything. Just lots of chinese restaurants. We went to the 'Gourmet Dumpling House' and there were pictures of Michael Douglas &Blake Lively on the wall so we figured it had to be good! We ordered the Chicken Curry and were disappointed at best. We should have gotten something else but.. what can you do? 

 We then went to the Chinese Market down the street to try and find gifts (which we couldn't) and found some Delicious chicken feet!

 Then we went back to downtown Boston and looked around a beautiful old church building and found the public library. It was the most beautiful library I've ever seen. Granite, fountains, chandeliers, everything!! There was also an exhibit going on about the Civil War that was fascinating.

 On our way to the airport, we found a little beach and watched the sunset. Gorgeous.

 We got to the airport at 9 pm. We thought we'd be able to check in and just nap on the comfy seats at the gate but.. what do we hear when we get there? Oh, the workers won't be in till 3:30 am! Of course. We played dice &card games and Scott napped on the seats while I kept watch on our things/the gate. I didn't sleep at all that night.

The trip overall was absolutely amazing! Honestly, I'm more terrified moving out there now than I was before. It's overwhelming but I'm sure we'll love it. We didn't find a place, but I'm not worried. We found lots we liked but they wanted someone to move in immediately so we'll get a place in a couple weeks when it's closer. We feel so blessed. Life is falling into place for us. We can't believe the blessings we've received. We love you all!
